Back when I was discussing websites that were influential in my creation of the Harvey Mercheum, I did not mention Bully Says: Comics Oughta Be Fun! because Bully the Little Stuffed Bull is not a fan of Harvey Comics. I do read Bully regularly, however, and so was deeply saddened when it looked like Bully was going to stop posting. Bully came back, however, with an important message.
I thought about how long it had been since I had posted an exhibit, and realized that I had been hiding too, in my own way. It felt frivolous somehow to post about toys when there were so many serious issues in the world. But the Mercheum blog is not a political forum, I refuse to allow it to be. I need to uphold the mission statement of the Mercheum, to catalog and document as many unique examples of Harvey comics merchandise as possible.
With this renewed sense of purpose, I went to post these thoughts, and then in a cruel twist of fate discovered that this website was down. The problem turned out to be related to the recent server migrations. It is resolved now, but after the holidays, I need to start considering a new hosting company. The mission statement ends with making this information accessible to collectors present and future. In their recent article on “How To Future-Proof Your WordPress Website In 4 Easy Steps”, Torque listed “Sign Up With A Reputable Hosting Provider” as the first step.
