Last week’s Pop Culture League (from the Internet Archive Wayback Machine) challenge was “First Quarter: What’s your earliest arcade or video game memory?” Video games were a huge part of my childhood, probably too big a part in all honesty. Despite this, I still could not seem to manage to write a post relevant to this website. At least one video game was made featuring Wendy, and several featuring Casper, but I did not own them and never played them. I knew when I started answering these challenges that I would not be able to respond to every one, but I feel bad taking a pass so early in the running.
This week’s challenge is “House of Wax: The local Wax Museum is having a fire sale and you have the opportunity to add a life-size, life-like action figure to your collection. Who do you choose?” I was going to pass on responding to this challenge as well, since my figure would not exist in a wax museum. However, several other responses used unlikely characters, so I will also. If such a thing existed, I would choose a figure of Richie Rich. Since this figure is a product of my imagination, I can decide how he looks. I would pick either the “take my money” pose I use on my personal business card:
or the “expansive gesture” pose Electric Tiki used for their “Mini Maquette” of him:
Either way, he would not be “impressive”, as he is maybe 4 feet tall. Still, it would make me very happy to have him by the door to my game room to greet me when I went in there to work on my collection.
Since it is late in the week, there have been a large number of responses to this challenge. You can read all of them from links off the challenge page linked above. Here are just a few:
