It’s a good thing I do not make New Year’s resolutions. Had I resolved to post more exhibits in 2019, I would be failing miserably.
Today we have a fun item, one of the items I use as proof of my statement that Harveyana spans many other fields of collectibles. Character glassware is very collectible, and has been for at least as long as I have been alive. I remember as a child convincing my parents to take me to Burger King just to buy Star Wars glasses!
I mentioned recently how I was having problems with the new WordPress editor, Gutenberg. Gutenberg is based around “blocks”, and, in theory, existing content was supposed to be converted to a “Classic Editor” block and be backward compatible. As a computer programmer by trade, I suspected that this would not be the case, and I was correct. After the update, all my posts and pages gave errors:
I reached the same conclusions they did. I spend money on web hosting with Siteground, and on domain name registration with namecheap, but use the free Weaver Xtreme theme, free plugins, free CDN services from Cloudflare and free SSL from Let’s Encrypt. This seems to be a reasonable balance to me.
Well, I did it again. I was planning a big exhibit for this weekend to celebrate the 125th item posted. Then I reviewed my notes, and realized I had only counted one of the two Little Lotta Mini-maquettes. This means that the Artist Proof of the Richie Rich Mini-maquette was actually the 125th exhibit. I am actually rather happy that this great exhibit ended up being an important milestone, I just wish I had acknowledged it.
