Today we have the last new exhibit for the fifth year of operation of the Harvey Mercheum website. For the occasion, I decided to do something special and post the last of the Larami rack toys in the permanent collection. It was a Larami rack toy that was the first exhibit in the Harvey Mercheum, so it is sad for me to draw this chapter to a close. And unlike the JA-RU rack toys, I have not seen any other Larami rack toys, so this really might be the end of them.Continue reading →
I mentioned recently how an interview got me thinking about the content of the Harvey Mercheum website. After the interview, I was inspired to create the JA-RU rack toys white paper. The interview has now been published as this week’s Scoop e-newsletter’s “Main Event”! You can read it here:
It’s hard to believe it’s been over four years since the Harvey Mercheum was Scoop’s “Savvy Site”. If you would like to receive Scoop, the form is available here:
A recent interview got me thinking about the content of the Harvey Mercheum website, and about how I could add more value for you, my readers. While I consider the exhibit pages, with their photographs and tables of interpretive information, to be the content of this website, I realized that I considered my analysis of the JA-RU rack toy collection to be the most truly original piece of work I have done to date. I have now reformatted the blog post onto the new Harvey Mercheum letterhead and created a white paper in Portable Document Format (PDF) that you can download, print and read.Continue reading →
Continuing preparations for Google+ shutting down on April 2, I have removed Google+ from the choices given in the “Please share this post:” section at the top of each Mercheum Blog post. I have also removed the Google+ badge and link to my personal profile from the “About Jonathan Sternfeld” section below each blog post. While I was working on my profile, I also made some changes to it to make it more compact so that users on mobile devices will have less scrolling on blog posts.
Today is SiteGround‘s 15th anniversary! The Harvey Mercheum website has been hosted by SiteGround for just over two years now, and I have been very happy so far. Congratulations SiteGround, here’s to many more! Check out this infographic showcasing some of their milestones:
Readers of the Mercheum Blog know that I am very concerned with the preservation of the content I have created. I do not feel that hobbyDB is a perfect fit for all the Harveyana that the Harvey Mercheum embodies, especially the various bits of corporate ephemera that I have promised to share with you. I am, however, very pleased to learn about the efforts that hobbyDB is making, and I still need to investigate how I can contribute.
I mentioned recently that changes are coming to the Harvey Mercheum. One of them happened a little sooner than I expected. If you have not heard, Google is shutting down Google+ on April 2. I noticed today that the Google+ script to display the badge had stopped working, so I removed it from the “Follow the Mercheum” section of the sidebar. Apologies for any inconvenience this causes. More changes to come!
Quick post today of another example of the number 998 short Richie Rich Three Dimensional Stickers. Today’s set has the stickers featuring Jackie Jokers last seen almost a year ago here with the red hanger last seen here just over a year ago:
Easter is still several weeks away, but to get in the mood, here is the Richie Rich rabbit costume doll turned into a Jigidi puzzle, enjoy!
