Every September 25th is National Comic Book Day! While Free Comic Book Day gets more attention, today is a good day to celebrate a truly American art form. While I am going to miss out on the fun, you should take a moment to read a comic book today!
I use Vistaprint for business cards, both personal and for the Harvey Mercheum, and have been very pleased with their quality. Some day I need to have these cards redone with “https” instead of “http”…
Long before Harvey Comics partnered with PolyGram to produce records, Harvey made their own. With lyrics composed by their own Sid Jacobson along with Jimmy Krondes, performed by “The Comix”, and copyrighted “Harvey Music, Inc.”, the songs were pressed into 45rpm records copyrighted “Harvey Records, Inc.” There were ads in the comic books you could cut the coupon out of and mail away for a set of five records (one song each side, so ten songs total), you can see one here.
Welcome to a special Labor Day edition of our retrospective! I really want to catch up with the current exhibits, so today I am posting four Jigidi puzzles, the most they allow per day. With this push, we will be into 2018!
So, some good news and some bad news today. The bad news is that yesterday morning I dismantled the second public display of part of the Harvey Mercheumpermanent collection. It was on display at the main branch of the Schenectady County Public Library (SCPL) for the month of August. I am very grateful to the library for allowing me to share my collection with the public, and hope to do so again.
