Anyone who has read the Mercheum blog knows that I use a variety of tools provided by Google to help manage the Harvey Mercheum website. Google has been making enhancements to Google Search Console, and I am now receiving Search Console Insights emails.
A couple of weeks ago, I received a Google Search Impact email congratulating the Harvey Mercheum on reaching 60 clicks in 28 days. This week, I received another for 70 clicks in 28 days. Toward the bottom of these emails, it says “Think this is awesome? Go ahead and share the good news.” Did I think this was awesome? I was not sure, so I did some investigating.
The first thing I did was check the Performance report for myself. The date “Aug 22, 2022” is shown below the text “Search in the past 28 days”, so I checked the range of 7/26/2022->8/22/2022 and got 71 clicks not 70. Close enough. Next, I checked what is called the “prior period”, so using the same 28 day interval, I checked 6/28/2022->7/25/2022 and got 43 clicks. That’s a pretty good improvement. Finally, I checked “prior year”, the same dates last year. Checking 7/26/2021->8/22/2021 yielded 35 clicks. That’s double year over year! Not bad for a niche website that is over eight years old at this point!
